Neither Needed Nor Feared

When were we first “endowed with” freedom?

Some think we humans are free from the very beginning, other may reply from the Renaissance.

But maybe most will agree that it started from the Dual Revolution. Men are born and remain free and equal in rights. (Declaration of the Rights of Man).

And it marked the beginning of the modern civilization.

That was of much implications. For people then, Freedom was the spoils they fought for. For us now, we may think it granted rather than a blessing.

But does it come so easily and naturally? I don’t think so.
